Delhi Election Results: AAP Aiming for 4th Term, BJP Looking to Bounce Back After 27 Years

So, the Delhi election results are finally here! A bunch of exit polls are saying the BJP might take the win in the capital, while a couple of them are leaning towards the AAP in what’s shaping up to be a close race.

We’ll find out on Saturday if Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) can snag a fourth term or if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can make a comeback after almost three decades.

Don’t count out the Congress, though! They’re hoping to pick up some seats after not winning anything in the last two elections.

Vote counting kicks off at 8 am across all 70 constituencies.

Delhi Election 2025 Full Coverage

All the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are safely stored in 70 strong rooms at 19 different spots around the city, according to the Delhi CEO’s office.

R. Alice Vaz, Delhi’s chief electoral officer, assured everyone that they’ve got all the safety measures in place for the EVMs and VVPATs, following the Election Commission’s protocols.

The AAP really made waves in Delhi politics back in 2015, crushing both the BJP and Congress by winning 67 out of 70 seats. They did it again in 2020, taking 62 seats and leaving the opposition in the dust.

Exit Polls Show BJP Slightly Ahead of AAP

Most exit polls are predicting a BJP win, but a couple are giving the AAP a slight edge in this nail-biter of an election. The AAP isn’t buying into the exit poll hype, though. They’re confident they’ll be back in power.

“What can you expect from exit polls done by massage and spa companies? Just wait for February 8, and the AAP will form the government with a solid majority,” AAP MP Sanjay Singh told PTI.

AAP Claims BJP Tried to Poach Candidates

Just a day before the vote counting, some Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) officials showed up at Kejriwal’s place, asking for details about his claims that the BJP tried to poach AAP candidates.

Since Kejriwal didn’t meet with them at his bungalow, they sent him a legal notice asking for proof. This comes right after the Lt Governor, VK Saxena, ordered an ACB investigation into the whole situation.

“Show us the evidence to back up your claims about the bribe offers you and your party members have been talking about on social media,” the ACB notice said.
