The black box of the crashed Azerbaijan Airlines plane is on its way to Brazil

The country’s investigation committee has sent the black box of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan to the Brazilian Center for Investigation and Prevention of Air Accidents to investigate the cause of the accident.

The Kazakh Ministry of Transport reported this information on Monday (December 30), according to TASS. The ministry said the flight recorder has been sent to Brazil. The investigation committee has departed for Brazil. The black box will be handed over to the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Air Accidents (Senipa).

Meanwhile, the Kazakh government’s investigation committee into the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash will publish a preliminary investigation report within 30 days, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Transport Minister Talgat Rastayev said. In a media interview, Rastaev said that the preliminary investigation report should be published in principle within 30 days. The investigative committee established on the plane crash is expected to present a tentative conclusion on the issue.

An official who is a member of the investigative committee said that an investigation is currently being carried out at the scene. Parts of the crashed aircraft are currently being recovered from the crash site, and fingerprints and casts are being taken. The collected samples will be rigorously evaluated by experts, he added. The plane, flight J2-8243, crashed near the Kazakhstan city of Aktau on Wednesday. At least 38 people were killed, with 29 surviving. There were 67 passengers and crew on board.
