The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket tournament will begin amidst cricket excitement and frenzy on Monday (December 30).
The high level of interest of fans in purchasing tickets for the opening match shows how excited cricket fans are for the 11th edition of the BPL.
Since Sunday morning, fans have been rushing to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur to buy tickets. However, no information has been received regarding ticket collection even after waiting for hours.
So, cricket fans have been rushing to the Mirpur area to get their tickets since Monday morning. At one point, the crowd became agitated. Police had to use batons to stop them. At this point, tension spread throughout the area. The cricket fans continued to chase the police. The crowd vandalized the Mirpur Stadium. However, the BCB said tickets can be purchased at seven designated Madhumoti Bank PLC branches and online outlets.
The opening match of the 50-day BPL will see reigning champions Fortune Barisal take on newcomers Darbar Rajshahi. The match will begin at 1:30 pm. In another match on the day, Rangpur Riders will take on Dhaka Capitals at 7 pm.
