Flash storage in the test: 19 SSDs with PCIe 3.0 to 5.0

This SSD test brings together a wide range of types, from fast to super fast. Finally, an SSD with economical 5.0 technology has appeared.

Once again, an SSD with an older PCI Express 3.0 controller has crept into the test, but this one is a very special model from Raspberry Pi Plc. This SSD is not intended to break speed records, but it is now available in only a few capacities: 256 GB and 512 GB. But it will last you a long time and is economical. At the other end of the performance scale, we have another new controller for PCIe 5.0: the Phison E31T, which drives the Corsair SSD Force Series MP700 Elite, easily achieving speeds over 10 GB/s, but consuming significantly less power than the previously available Phison E26 SSD.

In this edition of Flash Race, we present 10 new SSDs and 9 older but still attractive products. New to the list are the 4.0 SSD Integral Advantage Pro-2 Gen4 SSD, Lexar Play 2280, Seagate FireCuda 530R, and Teamgroup T-Force G50 M.2 PCIe SSD. We also have four 5.0 SSDs: the Corsair Force Series MP700 Elite, the Integral Edge Gen5 SSD, the Lexar NM1090, and the Teamgroup T-Force GE Pro M.2 PCIe SSD. In terms of speed, somewhere in the middle but in the 4.0 rank is the Samsung SSD 990 Evo Plus, which operates with four 4.0 lanes or two 5.0 lanes, depending on what’s currently available. Last but not least, we have the Raspi SSD which is inferior to PCIe 3.0 in terms of speed.
