Microsoft has officially rolled out its Game Assistant feature for Windows 11, which has been in testing for several months. This new addition, reminiscent of the Steam overlay, can be accessed via the Game bar and provides users with tips and guides for various games.
To activate the Game Assistant, users can navigate to the Microsoft Edge settings. Simply open the browser settings, search for “Game Assistant,” and click “Install the widget.” Once installed, the feature can be accessed using the Win+G keyboard shortcut.
William Devereux, Senior Product Manager at Edge, stated, “The Game Assistant initially offers contextual recommendations for a selection of popular games, and we are continuously optimizing it based on user feedback.” Currently, the feature supports titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Marvel Rivals, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with plans to expand the list further.
The Game Assistant is seamlessly integrated with the main Edge browser, utilizing existing cookies, enabling autofill and favorites, and supporting extensions like ad blockers. Future updates are expected to introduce additional features, including hotkey support and enhanced picture-in-picture mode.
