WhatsApp to be discontinued on phones at the beginning of the new year

WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms, will no longer be available on some phones starting next year. Meta has made this decision to maintain compatibility with older operating systems, phone hardware limitations, new features, and security updates.

WhatsApp will not be available on phones running OS version KitKat from January 2025. The list includes phones from some well-known brands, including Samsung, LG, and Sony.

Let’s take a look at the list of phones – Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014

HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601, LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90, Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

Incidentally, all smartphones get updates from time to time to make them more user-friendly. Also, some new features are added in the update. Similarly, they are also canceled. However, how many updates the handset will support depends on the phone’s hardware.

Similarly, apps also come with various updates. Naturally, the latest versions of apps are not supported on phones from a certain time ago. That is why after a while, some apps do not work on phones with certain OS versions.
