Colombo: Sri Lanka’s economy is projected to grow by 5.5 percent in the third quarter of 2024, the country’s central bank has projected.
According to the central bank, agricultural activity grew by 3 percent, industry by 10.8 percent, and service activity by 2.6 percent. Despite a decline in tea production in October 2024, total production increased slightly between January and October.
Rubber production showed steady improvement, achieving a significant annual increase in October, the central bank said. Coconut production declined year-on-year in the first ten months of 2024, the central bank said.
The Sri Lankan rupee appreciated by 10.7 percent against the US dollar as of December 20 last year, the central bank said. RSS/Xinhua
