A motorcyclist has died and 11 people on board a bus have been injured in a road accident that occurred on Friday afternoon near Gurjekhola, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan Municipality Ward No. 10, along the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section.
The District Police Office, Dang, has stated that the motorcyclist, Dilip KC, 44, a resident of Ghorahi-10, died when a bus bearing Ra 1 Kha 816, coming from Tulsipur towards Ghorahi, hit a motorcycle bearing Ra 5 Pa 6654, coming from the opposite direction, on the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section.
KC, who was seriously injured in the accident, was sent to the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences in Ghorahi for treatment, but the doctors declared him dead, said Ishwor Thapa, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dang. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Thapa, 11 of the 22 people on the bus were injured in the accident. The injured have been sent to the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences in Ghorahi for treatment, according to the police.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Thapa, the police have taken the bus driver, Gopal BK, 53, a resident of Fursekhali, Ghorahi-18, into custody and are investigating.
